Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya highlighted the need for an annual infrastructure budget of Rs 15 lakh crore to meet the ambitious "Viksit Bharat" vision by 2047. This vision includes transforming India into a developed nation, with significant investment in sectors such as transportation, logistics, and green energy. The Minister pointed out that the infrastructure outlay has steadily increased, from Rs 1.2 lakh crore in 2012 to Rs 2.4 lakh crore in 2014, but the required investment is still far higher to meet the long-term growth objectives. The increased investment would also help address social security, poverty alleviation, and infrastructural gaps.
